Print job processing in a clustered deployment

When configuring your service for clustering or diagnosing issues, it is useful to understand the behavior of the servers.

📘 Instructions

The following provides a brief overview of the clustering behavior:

  • The PrintAnywhere Server delivers jobs in the order they appear in the Configuration Utility.

  • The PrintAnywhere Server delivers new jobs to the least busy server each time a new job arrives. As a result, in a low-volume deployment with clustering enabled, the first Processing Server in the list will receive the bulk of the jobs.

  • Informs the PrintAnywhere Server which applications and formats are supported by each configured server.

  • Occurs every 2 minutes, allowing the PrintAnywhere Server to update its state information when idle.

  • Each time a job is submitted or completed, the PrintAnywhere Server informs the current state and allowing to maintain an up-to-date the state.

  • If all PrintAnywhere Servers in a cluster are unavailable, the PrintAnywhere Server rejects incoming jobs.
